If your fondue turns off unexpectedly, check the power connection, the thermostat setting and whether the appliance is overheating from lack of airflow or an unstable setup. A brief loss of heat can come from a poor connection, but repeated switching off needs caution. If the unit stops heating repeatedly, smells hot or behaves unpredictably, stop using it and contact the retailer where it was bought.
1. Confirm the plug and cord are seated properly
- Unplug the fondue.
- Check that the detachable cord, where fitted, is fully connected and not loose.
- Plug it back in firmly and watch whether the power light stays on.
If the light goes out again without you touching the controls, there may be a connection fault.
2. Reduce the load on the heater
- Do not use the appliance with more food than recommended by the maximum content indicator, if present.
- Keep the pot level and centred on the base.
- Remove any spillage from the outside only after the appliance has cooled.
Overfilling or poor contact with the base can make the heater cut out or behave erratically.
3. Check the thermostat and room conditions
- Turn the thermostat to a moderate setting.
- Leave the appliance to recover for a few minutes.
- Keep the area free from tight coverings, stacked items or draughts that may disturb stable operation.
If the unit only runs briefly and then stops again, do not keep restarting it. This can hide a more serious fault.
4. Stop use if the appliance becomes unsafe
- Stop immediately if you notice burning smell, unusual noise, sparking or melted parts.
- Do not try to open the housing or repair the heater yourself.
- Let the appliance cool before moving it.
If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
