Why does the fondue housing feel too hot to touch?

The housing can warm up during normal use, but it should not become so hot that it is difficult to handle safely. If the outside feels excessively hot, switch the appliance off and let it cool. If the heat seems extreme, uneven or accompanied by smell or smoke, stop using it and contact the retailer where it was bought.

1. Check placement and ventilation

1. Place the fondue on a flat, stable and non-slip surface.
2. Keep it clear of walls, cloths and other items that may trap heat.
3. Do not cover the housing while it is in use.

Poor ventilation can make the outside feel hotter than expected.

2. Check the fill level

1. Let the appliance cool and compare the contents with the maximum content indicator, if fitted.
2. Do not overfill the pot.
3. Use the appliance only with the pot seated correctly.

Overfilling or poor seating can affect heat distribution and increase the risk of spills.

3. Review the thermostat setting

1. Turn the thermostat down slightly and observe the change.
2. Wait a few minutes for the temperature to settle.
3. Stop testing if the housing becomes uncomfortable to touch.

If the unit stays unusually hot even at a lower setting, that is not normal.

4. Stop use if safety is unclear

1. Stop using the appliance if the cord, plug or base looks damaged.
2. Do not attempt to open the housing.
3. Do not move the unit while it is still hot and filled.
