Why does my fondue smell hot the first few times I use it?

A light hot smell during the first uses can happen as a new heating appliance settles in, but the smell should stay faint and short-lived. If you notice smoke, a sharp burning smell or any sign of melting, stop using the fondue at once and ask the retailer where it was bought for next steps.

1. Check that nothing is left on the appliance
