Why does the jug or carafe not sit properly on my coffee maker?

If the jug or carafe does not sit correctly, the machine may not brew properly, the hotplate may not heat as intended, or coffee may drip and spill. This is usually caused by misalignment, a lid that is not fitted correctly, or a damaged jug or base.

1. Switch the coffee maker off and let it cool. Remove the jug and place it back carefully, making sure it sits flat and centred on the hotplate.
2. Check the jug lid, handle and spout area for cracks, chips or bent parts. A damaged jug may not align with the filter outlet properly.
3. Look at the hotplate and surrounding area for dried coffee, grounds or debris that could stop the jug from sitting level.
4. Confirm that no removable part has been installed in the wrong position. On some models, the jug and filter basket must be aligned before brewing can start.
5. If the jug still rocks, feels unstable or will not fit as it should, stop using the coffee maker.

Expected result: the jug should rest level and stable, without gaps or wobble. Stop using the product immediately if the jug is cracked, if hot liquid is leaking onto the base, or if the machine seems to run without the jug correctly in place. If the fit remains poor after cleaning and refitting, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
