Why does my electric barbecue’s windscreen not stay in place?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 1:37 PM

If the windscreen keeps moving, the barbecue can lose heat or become awkward to use outdoors. Check the fit carefully and stop if the parts are bent, cracked or do not lock as intended.

1. Check the mounting points

  1. Switch the barbecue off and let it cool.
  2. Inspect the clips, slots or fixing points where the windscreen attaches.
  3. Make sure they are clean and free from grease or debris.

Expected result: clean attachment points should help the screen sit more securely.

2. Refit the windscreen exactly as shown in the instructions

  1. Align the screen carefully.
  2. Push or seat it without forcing it.
  3. Confirm it stands evenly and does not lean into the cooking area.

Expected result: the windscreen should remain upright during normal use.

3. Check for damage or incorrect use

  1. Look for bent metal, loose hinges or missing fasteners.
  2. Confirm the barbecue is being used in the configuration intended by the supplied instructions.
  3. Do not use makeshift clips or extra fixings.

Stop using the product if: the windscreen is cracked, bent badly, cannot be secured or falls towards hot parts during use.

If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, stop using the barbecue and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
