Why is my pet feeder smell unusual after cleaning?

A strange smell after cleaning usually means some moisture or food residue remains in the feeder, or a cleaned part has not dried fully. Do not use the feeder again until you have checked that the smell is not coming from heat, wiring or a trapped spill.

Check what the smell is like

1. If it smells damp, allow all parts to air dry completely.
2. If it smells stale or food-like, clean the bowl and hopper again and remove hidden residue.
3. If it smells hot, electrical or burnt, stop using the feeder immediately.

If the smell fades after thorough drying, the issue was likely leftover moisture.

Inspect the feeder carefully

1. Check the food path, bowl area and exterior surfaces for trapped crumbs or liquid.
2. Make sure no cleaner or water has entered the electrical area.
3. Reassemble only when everything is fully dry.

Do not continue using the product if you detect a burnt smell, melting plastic smell or any heat near the cable or base. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased if the smell persists after safe cleaning and drying.
