Why does my cantilever parasol not stay level?

A cantilever parasol that will not stay level usually needs a steadier base, a more even setup, or a check that the arm is positioned correctly. Stop using it if the canopy drifts, drops at one side, or the arm feels strained, because a cantilever design relies heavily on balance.

1. Check that the base is on flat, firm ground and that all support parts are seated evenly. A cantilever parasol is more sensitive to uneven ground than a standard upright parasol.
2. Move the canopy slowly through its positions and watch whether one side drops more than the other. That tells you whether the issue is with balance or with a specific joint.
3. Make sure the arm is not being pulled sideways by the canopy fabric or by any visible obstruction. Clear only light, visible obstructions that are easy to reach.
4. Close the parasol if it will not hold its position. Do not try to support the arm by hand while turning the mechanism.
5. If the parasol remains out of level after these checks, stop using it and do not leave it open unattended.
