Why won’t my parasol open fully when I turn the crank?

If your parasol starts to open but does not reach the full canopy position, the most likely cause is a snag in the mechanism, a twisted canopy, or the frame not being able to move freely. Stop turning as soon as you feel unusual resistance, because forcing a crank can damage the lifting system.

Check the opening path

1. Place the parasol on a level surface and make sure the base is stable enough to support it.
2. Remove the cover, if fitted, and check that the canopy fabric is not caught around the ribs or wrapped around the centre pole.
3. Turn the crank slowly and watch whether the pole rises evenly.
4. If the movement becomes stiff, stop and lower the parasol again before inspecting for visible obstructions.

If the canopy moves unevenly, the ribs may not be aligned correctly after storage. Lower the parasol fully, smooth the fabric by hand and try again. A neatly folded parasol or protection bag can help reduce twisting during storage, which is especially useful for models supplied with a dust cover or protection bag such as the product feed items.

• If it opens normally after clearing the fabric, the issue was likely a minor obstruction.
• If it still binds, the crank mechanism or internal lifting parts may need attention.
• If the frame bends, clicks sharply or grinds, stop using the parasol.
