Why does my parasol fabric look faded after being outside?

Outdoor fabric can fade over time, especially if the parasol is left in strong sunlight or exposed to weather for long periods. Stop using it if the fabric is also cracked, brittle or tearing, because that is more than normal fading.

Check whether the fading is even

1. Compare the colour on shaded and exposed areas of the canopy.
2. Look closely for patchy discolouration, which may suggest weather wear rather than ordinary ageing.
3. Check the stitching and seams while you are inspecting the canopy.

Even fading usually points to prolonged sun exposure.

Review storage habits

1. Make sure the parasol is fully dry before it is folded away.
2. Use the supplied protection bag, if provided, to help reduce dirt and weather exposure during storage.
3. Store it in a dry place when not in use.

Good storage will not prevent all fading, but it can slow down avoidable wear.

When to stop using it

If fading is accompanied by weakened fabric, holes or a damaged frame, stop using the parasol until it has been assessed. If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
