Why does my hair curler cord twist or tangle during styling?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 8:02 AM

A twisting cord can make styling awkward and can place strain on the appliance. If the cord is not moving freely, stop and correct it before continuing, and do not use the curler if the cable looks damaged or hot.

Check the cord movement

  1. Place the appliance on a flat surface and let the cord relax fully.
  2. Rotate the appliance gently to see whether the cord follows without binding.
  3. Use a slower, more controlled movement while styling to reduce twisting.

Expected result: the cord should move without tugging the appliance or kinking sharply.

Remove strain from storage habits

  1. Allow the appliance to cool completely before storing it.
  2. Do not wrap the cord tightly around the body.
  3. Store the cable loosely so it can straighten before the next use.

Expected result: loose storage should reduce future twisting and make the cord easier to handle.

When to stop using it

Stop using the hair curler immediately if the cord becomes hot, frayed, split or loose at the plug or appliance end. Never pull the unit by the cable and never try to open the plug or housing. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
