Why does my air styler not stay on one setting?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 8:02 AM

If the air styler does not remain on the selected setting, the control may not be moving fully into position, or the appliance may be interrupting power because it is too warm. Stop using it if the control feels loose, the unit smells burnt or the cord is damaged.

1. Select the setting again carefully

  1. Switch the appliance off.
  2. Turn or press the control fully into the desired setting.

If the appliance behaves normally after resetting the control, the issue may simply have been an incomplete selection.

2. Check for movement at the cord and plug

  1. Unplug the appliance and inspect the cord and plug for looseness or wear.
  2. Look for any point where the power cuts in and out when the cord is moved.

If the appliance is intermittent when moved, stop using it. A stable power connection is important for safe operation.

3. Allow the appliance to cool

  1. Switch it off and leave it unplugged until it is fully cool.
  2. Try the same setting again.

If the setting holds after cooling, heat build-up may have contributed to the issue. Keep the vents clear and avoid blocking the air inlet.

4. Stop using it if the problem continues

  1. Test it only once more after the checks above.
  2. If it still will not stay on the chosen setting, stop using it.

Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for the next steps.
