Why are my cake pops sticking to the moulds?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 8:17 PM

Cake pops that cling to the moulds are usually caused by batter that is too wet, insufficient preheating or opening the maker too early. The DCPM12 family has a non-stick coating and is designed for cake pops, so sticking should be reduced when the surface is clean and the batter is used as intended.

  1. Let the appliance preheat fully before adding batter. If the first batch sticks less than the second, the unit may have been opened too soon or not warmed long enough.
  2. Use the amount of batter recommended by your recipe, not a heaped fill. Too much batter can spread over the mould edges and bond to the plate.
  3. Check that the moulds are clean and dry before each use. Residue from sugar, butter or glazing can make the next batch cling.
  4. Open the lid gently only when the cake pops have had enough time to set. If you need to force them out, let them bake a little longer on the next batch.
  5. Stop using the appliance if the coating looks scratched, peeled or flaking, or if sticking is severe even after careful cleaning and a full preheat. In that case, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

The expected result is that the cake pops release cleanly without tearing. If the non-stick surface seems damaged or the appliance behaves unpredictably, stop using it immediately and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
