Why does my grill pan not switch on when I plug it in?

If the grill pan shows no sign of power, the issue may be the socket, the detachable cord or the thermostat connection rather than the cooking plate itself. Because this is a mains-powered appliance, stop using it immediately if you see damaged insulation, scorch marks, sparking or a loose plug.

1. Check that the wall socket works by testing it with another appliance you know is working. Expected result: if the other appliance also fails, the socket may be the problem.
2. Confirm that the detachable cord or thermostat unit is fully inserted, if your model uses one. Expected result: the connection sits firmly and does not wobble.
3. Inspect the cord and plug for visible damage, twisting or a burnt smell. Do not bend or force the cable. Expected result: no physical damage is present.
4. Make sure the thermostat is set to a cooking temperature rather than the lowest position. Expected result: the power indication light should come on during heating on models fitted with a light.
5. If the appliance still shows no heat or power after these checks, stop using it and do not try to open the unit or repair the mains parts yourself.

Try a different approved wall socket only if the cord and plug are undamaged and the appliance remains cool. If the problem remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
