Why has the lid of my grill pan cracked?

The grill pans come with a white plastic part. This is a sealing ring that must be placed between the lid and the knob. So, before using the pan for the first time, always follow these steps first:

1. Locate the small hole in the centre of the lid.

2. Place the ring between the knob and the glass, so that the knob does not press directly against the lid.

3. Insert the screw through the knob and the lid.

4. Screw the part onto the underside.

5. Tighten it by hand only: the knob must not be loose, but the glass must not be under pressure.

6. Check all round to ensure the rubber seal is lying flat and that no metal or hard plastic is pressing directly against the lid.
