A grill pan that warms slowly is often affected by a low thermostat setting, a poor connection or a cold start after storage. If the appliance becomes unusually hot in one area, or the cord feels warm, stop using it.
Check the heat-up conditions
- Set the thermostat higher and allow the appliance enough time to reach temperature. Some grill pans need roughly 10 minutes to heat properly.
- Confirm the detachable cord or thermostat is pushed fully into its socket, if applicable.
- Make sure the appliance sits on a stable, flat surface with enough space around it for heat to build evenly.
- Test with the lid closed if your model is designed for that use, because opening the lid repeatedly lets heat escape.
- If the appliance still takes far longer than expected to warm up, stop using it and return to the retailer for advice.
Expected result: the grill pan should reach cooking temperature within a normal preheat period and the indicator light should behave consistently.
Stop using the product immediately if the slow heating is accompanied by a burning smell, flickering power light, tripping electrics or a loose connection at the plug or thermostat.
If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, advise the consumer to contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
