If the lid does not sit properly, the cause is often food residue, a warped fitting point or an incorrectly positioned detachable lid. Stop using the grill pan if the lid appears cracked, bent or too hot to handle safely.
- Let the appliance cool, then check for crumbs, grease or packaging material around the lid edge and hinge points. Expected result: the lid can move freely once cleaned.
- Remove and refit the lid, if your model has a detachable lid, making sure it sits in the intended position. Expected result: the lid aligns evenly with the pan.
- Do not force the lid shut over oversized food. Reduce the amount or cut the food smaller. Expected result: the lid closes without pressure.
- Check whether the appliance is standing level on its feet. Expected result: a level base prevents one side from sitting higher than the other.
- If the lid still will not close, or it closes at an angle, stop using the product and do not use pressure to make it fit.
Keeping the rim and lid edge clean after each use helps prevent build-up that can affect the fit. If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
