If your cordless shaver will not start after charging, the battery may not have taken a full charge, the power path may be interrupted, or the unit may simply need a longer first charge. Start with the safest checks first, and stop using the shaver immediately if the housing, cable, charging plug or charging point looks damaged.
What to check first
- Make sure the shaver is switched off before connecting it to power. Then connect it using the supplied charger or cable, and leave it to charge for the recommended time in the product instructions.
- Look for a charging indicator light, if your model has one. If the light does not come on, disconnect the shaver and check whether the plug, cable, charging point or socket is loose or dirty.
- Try a different wall socket if that is safe to do. If the shaver charges in one socket but not another, the issue may be with the socket or adapter rather than the shaver.
- If the shaver has not been used for a long time, charge it again for the full recommended period. A battery can sometimes need longer after storage before it delivers normal running time.
- If the shaver still does not run, make sure the cutting head, comb or attachment is fitted correctly and not blocking the mechanism.
What the result means
If the indicator light works but the shaver still does not switch on, the battery may be too weak, the head may be incorrectly fitted, or the internal switch may not be responding. If there is no indicator light at all, the problem is more likely to be power supply related.
When to stop using it
Stop using the shaver at once if it becomes hot, smells burnt, makes an unusual noise, or the cable or charging parts are damaged.
If the issue remains unresolved, or if you are unsure whether it is safe to keep using the product, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased. They can explain the next available steps.
