Why does my parasol canopy sit unevenly when it is open?

An uneven canopy usually means one rib is not tracking properly, the fabric is twisted or the parasol is not fully seated in its base. Stop using it if the canopy sits lopsided, because the frame may be under strain.

1. Close the parasol and reopen it slowly while watching the canopy edges. Expected result: each side should rise evenly. If one side opens first or hangs lower, stop and inspect it.
2. Check the fabric for twists or sections that have slipped over a rib. Reposition only what you can reach safely from the outside. Expected result: the canopy should spread evenly once the fabric is laid flat.
3. Make sure the pole is upright and secure in the base. A leaning pole can make the open canopy look uneven even when the fabric is intact.
4. Look for bent ribs, loose joints or signs that the frame is not symmetrical. Expected result: the frame should match on both sides. If it does not, do not keep forcing the opening action.
5. If the canopy still sits unevenly, or you can hear cracking, scraping or slipping, stop using the parasol and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

Keeping the parasol dry and stored in the protection bag can help the canopy reopen more neatly.
