Why do the ribs on my parasol look bent or uneven?

If the ribs look bent or uneven, the parasol may have been opened with a twist in the fabric, caught in wind or stored while under strain. Stop using it if any rib appears cracked, sharply bent or out of alignment, because the frame may no longer support the canopy safely.

Check the canopy position

1. Close the parasol fully and inspect the fabric around the top of the frame.
2. Look for a section that has been folded over or trapped between ribs.
3. Reopen the canopy slowly and see whether the ribs move evenly.

If the ribs look normal once the fabric is straightened, the issue may only have been caused by a twisted canopy.

Check for signs of strain

1. Look for scraping, clicking or a rib that sits lower than the others.
2. Check whether the pole or canopy leans to one side.
3. Close the parasol if the frame looks more distorted as you open it.

A frame that changes shape while moving should not be used further.

When to stop using it

If a rib is visibly damaged or the parasol will not open evenly after you have checked the fabric, stop using it immediately. Do not bend the ribs back by hand. If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
