Why does my adjustable comb attachment not stay at the length I set?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 8:57 AM

If the comb attachment will not hold its setting, it may not be fitted correctly, the adjustment slider may be blocked, or the attachment may be worn. Stop using the shaver if the comb slips during use, because that can cause uneven cutting and skin discomfort.

  1. Switch the appliance off and refit the comb attachment exactly as shown in the supplied instructions. Expected result: the comb should click or slide into position without forcing it.
  2. Move the length control through each setting to check whether the slider travels smoothly. Expected result: the control should move steadily and remain at the chosen length.
  3. Brush away trapped hair from the guide, blade area and adjustment track. Expected result: the comb should move more easily after cleaning.
  4. Inspect the comb teeth, guides and locking points for cracks or wear. Expected result: all parts should be straight and secure. If any part is damaged, stop using the appliance.

If the length setting still drifts during use after cleaning and refitting, stop using the shaver. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for the next steps rather than forcing the attachment into position.
