Why is my pet feeder not connecting to Wi-Fi?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 8:12 AM

If the feeder will not join Wi-Fi, the most common cause is an incompatible network setup rather than a fault with the appliance. These models use single-band 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so start by checking the network before trying anything more complex.

Check the network first

  1. Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, not 5 GHz only.
  2. Move the feeder closer to the router during setup.
  3. Restart the router, then power the feeder off and on again before retrying setup.

If setup works after moving the feeder nearer to the router, signal strength was likely the issue.

Check the app setup

  1. Follow the pairing steps again from the beginning if the app fails part way through.
  2. Allow the app the permissions it needs during setup.
  3. Use the exact Wi-Fi password and avoid special entry errors such as extra spaces.

If the app finds the feeder but cannot complete pairing, the network settings are still the most likely cause.

Stop using it if safety is uncertain

  1. Stop using the feeder if it powers unpredictably or the cable or plug becomes hot during setup.
  2. Do not use it near water or attempt to modify the Wi-Fi hardware.
  3. If the problem remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
