If the brush or curler is pulling hair, pause straight away and check the attachment and section size. Pulling can happen when the hair is too damp, the section is too large or the accessory is not fitted correctly. Stop using the appliance if it catches badly or makes the hair snag repeatedly.
Check your preparation
- Detangle the hair first and work with smaller sections.
- Use the appliance on towel-dried hair rather than hair that is still very wet.
- Keep the section under gentle control as you style, rather than feeding too much hair into the attachment at once.
Check the attachment and direction
- Unplug and cool the appliance, then remove the attachment.
- Refit it carefully so it sits fully in place and is aligned correctly.
- If you are using an auto-wrap curler, make sure you are using the side and direction intended for the section you want to curl.
Check the result
- If the hair feeds more smoothly after reducing the section size, the issue was likely the styling method.
- If the appliance still catches hair even with a small section, the accessory may be worn or the connection may not be secure.
- Do not continue if the hair is being pulled hard or wrapped awkwardly.
Stop using it if
- The appliance tugs, grabs or twists hair aggressively
- An attachment loosens during use
- You see damage to the bristles, barrel or fitting point
If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
