Why does my foot bath smell hot or unusual the first time I use it?

A slight hot or new-appliance smell can happen during the first few uses, especially if the unit has just been unpacked. That smell should fade quickly and should never be strong, smoky or accompanied by visible heat damage.

What to check

1. Use the foot bath in a well-ventilated room the first time.
2. Check that all packaging, stickers and protective film have been removed.
3. Make sure no water has splashed onto the selector switch or electrical area.
4. Switch off the appliance and let it cool if the smell becomes stronger during use.

If the odour decreases after a short period, that is usually consistent with normal first use. If it does not ease, or if the smell is acrid, burnt or electrical, treat it as a fault.

Stop using the foot bath immediately if you see smoke, melting, discolouration, sparking or a damaged cord or plug. Do not try to dry electrical parts with heat.

2. Wipe off any external moisture with a dry cloth.
