Why should I stop using my coffee maker after water reaches the plug or base?

Water near the plug, cable or base is a serious safety concern because it can create an electric shock risk. Do not continue testing the machine if liquid has reached electrical parts, even if it appears to work again afterwards.

1. Unplug the coffee maker at the wall socket only if you can do so without touching wet parts. If the socket area is wet, switch off power at the supply first if it is safe to reach.
