Why does my coffee maker keep losing water from the tank?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 2:52 PM

If the water level drops faster than expected before brewing starts, the tank may not be seated correctly, the valve may be stuck, or water may be escaping through a misfit. Stop using the machine if the leak reaches electrical parts.

1. Refit the tank carefully

  1. Remove the water tank, then put it back in place.
  2. Check that it sits firmly and evenly.

Expected result: water should stay in the tank until the machine begins to brew. A tank that is not seated properly may leak immediately.

2. Inspect the valve area

  1. Look at the tank valve for signs of sticking or debris.
  2. Clean only the removable parts once cool, without opening the appliance.

Expected result: the valve should release water only when brewing starts.

3. Check for cracks or damaged seals

  1. Examine the tank and jug for visible cracks, chips or warped edges.
  2. If you spot damage, do not use the machine again.

Expected result: an undamaged tank should hold water without drips.

Stop using the product immediately if water appears below the machine, around the plug, or if the tank keeps leaking after refitting. If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where the coffee maker was purchased.
