Why does my LED night light glow dimly when it is switched off?

A faint glow can happen with some LED products, especially in homes with sensitive sockets or nearby wiring, but it should not be bright enough to light the room. If the light stays clearly on when you expect it off, stop using it until you have checked the installation.

Confirm how the light is powered

1. Unplug the night light and plug it into a different socket in the same room.
2. Observe whether the glow changes, disappears or stays exactly the same.
3. If the glow only appears in one socket, the socket or circuit may be influencing the light rather than the lamp itself.

Check for external causes

1. Remove any adaptor, timer or extension lead and connect the night light directly to the wall socket.

3. Leave the night light unplugged for a minute, then reconnect it and watch whether the glow returns at once or only after the room darkens.

• Stop using the product if the glow is accompanied by heat, buzzing, crackling or a burnt smell.
