Why does my coffee maker not start brewing even though the power light is on?

Direct answer

If the machine has power but does not brew, the most common causes are an empty water tank, the water tank not sitting correctly, or the machine still heating up. For espresso machines, brewing should only start after the ready light stops blinking.

Diagnostic steps

  1. Check that the water tank is filled.
  2. Remove and refit the tank, then make sure it is correctly located and connected to the water inlet.
  3. Wait until the ready light stops blinking before starting the brew cycle.
  4. If the machine has not been used for a few days, flush it with fresh water before brewing again.

Expected result

The machine should fill the circuit, heat to the right temperature and start brewing normally. fileciteturn0file2turn0file6

When to stop

Stop the test if the machine starts brewing, or if it heats and flushes normally after the tank is refitted and the ready light stops blinking.

Contact support

Contact support if the machine still does not brew after checking the tank, flushing the circuit and confirming the ready light has finished blinking.
