Why does my air cooler fan stop after a short time?

If the air cooler starts and then stops, the timer may have been set unintentionally, the reservoir may be low or the appliance may be protecting itself from a problem. The safest first step is to check the controls and water level before trying again.

What to check

1. Look for an active timer: on some models the timer can shut the appliance off automatically after the selected period.
2. Check the reservoir: make sure there is enough fresh water in the tank and that it is seated properly.
3. Check for blocked airflow: an obstructed intake or heavily dusty filter can make the appliance run poorly and then stop.
4. Let the appliance rest: if it has been running a long time, switch it off, unplug it and allow it to cool before restarting.

Some models also include overheat protection, which can stop the appliance if internal conditions become unsafe. That is why repeated restarting is not a good idea if the unit has already stopped on its own.

Stop using it if

Stop using the product if it stops with a burning smell, electrical noise, water leakage or a hot plug or cord. Do not keep cycling the power. If it still stops after checking the timer, water level and filter, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
