How do I clean my raclette safely after use?

Modified on Tue, 25 Aug at 1:27 PM

Clean the raclette only after it has fully cooled, then remove food residue gently so the non-stick surfaces and electrical parts are protected. The instructions say the appliance should be unplugged before cleaning, that harsh cleaners should be avoided and that the removable plate, pans and spatulas can be washed after cooling on supported models.

Safe cleaning steps

  1. Switch off and unplug the appliance. Wait until it is completely cool.
  2. Remove detachable parts if your model has them. Lift out the grill plate only when it is cool enough to handle.
  3. Wipe first, then wash. Remove crumbs and grease with a soft cloth or paper towel before using warm water and mild washing-up liquid on suitable parts.
  4. Avoid damage. Do not use steel wool, abrasive pads, chemicals or sharp tools on non-stick surfaces.
  5. Keep electrical parts dry. Never immerse the base, cord or plug in water.

Expected result

After cleaning, the surfaces should look free of grease and feel dry before the next use. If residue has left staining, rough patches or a sticky coating that will not come off, the surface may be worn.

Stop using the product immediately if you see cracks, peeling coating, moisture inside the housing or any sign that cleaning has reached electrical parts. Do not try to scrub away damaged coating aggressively.

If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
