Why does my raclette switch off during use?

If the raclette stops during cooking, the cause may be overheating, a loose power connection or a control that has been turned off accidentally. Because this is a mains-powered heating appliance, stop using it straight away if the cut-out is accompanied by smoke, burning or a hot cable.

1. Check whether the appliance was moved or knocked. If it stopped after being nudged, the plug or switch may have been disturbed. Switch it off, let it cool and then inspect the external connections only.
2. Look for signs of overheating. If the base or cord feels unusually hot, unplug the appliance and do not restart it.
3. Confirm the control setting. On models with a thermostat, a low setting may make the unit cycle more often. If it comes back on after adjustment, the control position was likely too low.
4. Try another socket if the wall outlet is uncertain. If the appliance also stops there, the fault is likely within the raclette or its cord.

Stop using the raclette immediately if it repeatedly cuts out, gives off a burning smell, or the plug or lead becomes hot. If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
