Why does my shaver smell hot or dusty the first few times I use it?

A slight hot or dusty smell can appear during the first uses of a new shaver or after it has been stored for a long time, but it should fade quickly. If the smell is strong, persistent or joined by smoke, heat or unusual noise, stop using the product immediately.

Check whether it is only first-use smell

1. Use the appliance in a well-ventilated room.
2. Run it for a short period only, then switch it off and feel the casing carefully, without touching any moving parts.
3. Clean away any storage dust or loose hair from the blades and air openings, if present.
4. Confirm that nothing is trapped around the cutting head or charger connection.

If the smell disappears after a short run and a light clean, it was likely residue from storage or initial use. If it continues, the motor, battery or charger may be overheating.

Stop using it if

• The smell becomes sharp, electrical or burnt.
• Smoke, sparking or excess heat appears.
• The shaver starts to slow down or cut badly at the same time.

Do not mask the smell with sprays or continue to test it repeatedly. If the issue remains or safe use is uncertain, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased for the available next steps.
