Why does my hair straightener vibrate or rattle while I style?

A faint vibration can happen as the plates move, but a rattle is not something to ignore. It may point to loose internal parts, debris near the hinge, or an issue with the cord connection if the sound changes as you move the appliance. Stop using it if the noise is strong or the body feels loose.

Check the appliance carefully

1. Unplug the straightener and allow it to cool.
2. Gently shake it near your ear, then open and close the plates to see when the sound happens.
3. Inspect the cord, plug and casing for looseness, cracks or movement.

What to look for

If the noise only happens when the plates move and stops after cleaning, debris may have been the cause. If the rattle continues during normal handling, the appliance may need to be withdrawn from use.

When to stop using it

Stop using the straightener immediately if you hear buzzing with a burning smell, if the cord feels damaged, or if any part of the casing is loose. If the issue is still unresolved, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
