Why does my pet feeder stop working on battery power alone?

If the feeder works on mains power but not on battery power, the backup battery or its connection is likely the issue. Battery backup is meant to support short interruptions, so a complete failure on battery alone usually points to an incorrect fit, a flat battery or a fault in the battery compartment.

Check the battery installation

1. Remove and refit the battery according to the supplied instructions.
2. Check the contacts for dust, corrosion or moisture.
3. Test the feeder again after restoring power.

Expected result: the feeder should maintain basic function during a short mains interruption, according to the supplied instructions. If it does not, the battery may not be supplying power correctly.

Watch for warning signs

1. Look for swelling, leakage or a damaged battery compartment.
2. Do not mix old and new batteries or use a damaged one.
3. Replace the battery only with the type stated in the supplied instructions.

Stop using the product if: you see leakage, swelling, heat or any other sign of battery damage.
