Why does my hand blender feel difficult to hold steady while blending?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 9:17 PM

If the blender feels awkward or hard to steady, the cause is often the container, the amount of food or the way the appliance is being held. Make sure the set-up is stable before you continue, because a slipping grip can lead to splashes or loss of control.

  1. Use both hands if the design allows it. Support the container with one hand and hold the blender firmly with the other. The expected result is better control over the movement of the blade.
  2. Check the bowl or jug. Use a deep, stable container that does not slide on the worktop. The expected result is less wobbling and fewer sudden movements.
  3. Reduce the quantity of ingredients. Large batches are harder to control and can pull the blender to one side. The expected result is smoother movement through the mixture.
  4. Blend in short, controlled pulses. This gives you more control than continuous running. The expected result is steadier handling and less splashing.
  5. Inspect the rod and handle for visible damage. If the shaft is bent, cracked or loose, do not continue using it. The expected result should always be a straight, secure feel.

Stop using the product immediately if the handle feels loose, the shaft wobbles, the accessory connection separates, or you cannot hold it securely with normal care. Do not continue with unstable or damaged parts. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
