Why does my torch look damaged after being stored or carried around?

If your torch looks cracked, scratched, bent or dusty after storage or carrying it around, check it carefully before you use it again. Cosmetic wear may be harmless, but damage around the switch, battery cover or lens can affect safe operation. Stop using the torch if you find cracks, loose parts, heat damage or residue.

1. Inspect the full body, lens, switch and battery cover in good light. Expected result: you can identify whether the issue is only cosmetic or structural.
2. Check that the lens is clear and seated properly. Expected result: light output should not be blocked or scattered.
3. Open and close the battery cover once to confirm it still fits correctly. Expected result: the cover should stay secure.
4. Wipe off dust with a dry soft cloth. Expected result: the torch should be clean enough for a proper visual check.
5. If you see cracks near the batteries, switch or lamp area, stop using the torch. Expected result: you avoid possible failure during use.
