Why is my fan heater not producing warm air?

If the fan runs but the air stays cool, the heat setting may not be selected correctly or the heater may be in fresh air fan mode. Stop using it immediately if you notice a burning smell, damaged plug, or the casing becomes very hot.

Check the control positions

1. Confirm that a heat setting is selected, not fan-only mode.
2. Set the thermostat higher than the room temperature if your model has an adjustable thermostat.
3. Test both heat levels one at a time and listen for a change in output.

If warm air appears on one setting but not another, the issue may be a control position rather than a fault. If the air remains cold, continue.

Check for automatic cut-out

1. Unplug the heater and let it cool.
2. Make sure the air intake and outlet are clear of dust and objects.
3. Restart it in a clear, open location.

Fan heaters can stop heating if they overheat or if the thermostat is not calling for heat. A heater that never warms up should not be left running unattended.
