If your fan is running but the airflow feels weak, the most likely causes are a low speed setting, an obstructed grill or dirt build-up. Start with external checks first, because these are the safest and most common reasons for poor performance.
- Set the fan to a higher speed and feel the airflow again at a short distance. Expected result: the airflow becomes noticeably stronger on a higher setting.
- Check that nothing is blocking the front or rear grill, and that the fan has enough free space around it. Move papers, curtains and loose items away from the air path. Expected result: airflow improves once the obstruction is removed.
- Switch the fan off and unplug it. If the grill or blades have visible dust build-up, clean the outside surfaces carefully according to the manual for your model. Expected result: dust removal restores normal air movement.
- If the airflow is still weak after cleaning and repositioning, stop using the fan if you notice rubbing, unusual smell or overheating. Contact the retailer or the store where it was purchased if the problem remains unresolved.
The listed fans use different motor sizes and airflow ratings, so a 30 cm desk fan will not feel the same as a 50 cm box fan. Even so, a sudden drop in airflow usually points to blockage, incorrect setting or a developing fault rather than normal operation.
