Why are my fondue forks hard to clean after use?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 4:22 PM

Sticky forks are usually caused by dried cheese, chocolate or oil, especially if they were not cleaned soon after use. Let the forks cool fully before cleaning, and stop using them if the coating is damaged or the handle has bent.

Soak and clean gently

  1. Unplug the fondue set and separate the forks from the appliance.
  2. Soak them in warm water if your model allows it, then wipe with a soft cloth or sponge.
  3. Do not use abrasive pads or knives to remove stuck food.

Expected result: residue should lift without scratching the surface.

Check for dishwasher-safe parts

  1. Only put parts in the dishwasher if they are identified as dishwasher proof for your model.
  2. Keep any electrical parts completely away from water.
  3. Dry the forks fully before storing them.

Expected result: the forks should come away clean and ready for the next use.

Check for damage

  1. Inspect the fork tips and shafts for bending, rust or worn coating.
  2. Look for build-up around the handle where cleaning may be missed.
  3. If residue stays fixed after careful washing, do not force it off.

Expected result: clean forks should be smooth, straight and free of sharp edges.

When to stop using it

Stop using the fondue forks if they are bent, corroded or their surface is peeling. If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
