Why does the spray function on my iron not mist properly?

If the spray function gives no mist or only a weak spray, the tank may be too low, the iron may not be ready or the nozzle may be blocked by residue. This is usually a maintenance issue, but stop immediately if water sprays from the body or near the plug.

How to narrow it down

1. Check that the water tank is filled to a suitable level. Expected result: the spray pump can draw water. If the tank is nearly empty, refill it first.
2. Test the spray once the iron is warmed up. Expected result: a fine mist should come from the front spray opening. If nothing appears, continue.
3. Hold the iron upright and press the spray button several times in a row. Expected result: the first few presses may prime the system. If still nothing happens, move on.
4. If your model has self-cleaning, use it to clear build-up in the steam and spray paths. Expected result: the spray becomes more even after residue is flushed through.
