Why does the spray button on my iron not work?

If the spray button does nothing, the most likely causes are an empty tank, trapped air in the spray system or a button that needs a few presses before it starts working. Stop using the iron if the button feels stuck, the housing leaks, or the iron becomes unusually hot or noisy.

1. Check that there is water in the tank and that it is filled to at least the minimum needed for spray use. Expected result: the spray function should only work when water is available.
2. Press the spray button firmly several times, especially if the iron has not been used for a while. Expected result: the first few presses may prime the system before a mist appears.
3. Point the soleplate safely away from people and fabric, then test the spray again. Expected result: a fine mist should come from the front spray nozzle.
4. If there is still no mist, or water leaks around the button, unplug the iron and stop using it until it has cooled. Do not try to prise the button open or modify the appliance.

If the issue remains unresolved, or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased. The manuals for the Tristar irons state that the spray function depends on the tank being filled, and some models may need repeated presses to start the function for the first time.
