Why is my dummy camera battery cover not closing properly?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 3:23 PM

If the battery cover on the dummy camera will not close properly, treat it as a fit issue and check the batteries, cover alignment and any visible damage. The 10.016.07 model uses AA batteries, so the cover must sit correctly for the unit to look finished and stay protected from dirt or moisture.

Check the cover fit

  1. Remove the batteries and refit them in the correct orientation. The expected result is that the batteries sit flat and do not push the cover outward. If the cover still will not sit flush, stop using the product.
  2. Inspect the cover edges and clips for bends, cracks or missing material. The expected result is a cover that closes evenly with light pressure. If a clip is broken or the housing is damaged, do not force it closed. fileciteturn0file1turn0file0
  3. Clean away any dust or grit around the battery compartment. The expected result is smoother closing once the area is clear. Use only a dry, soft cloth and avoid wet cleaning around the battery area. fileciteturn0file3turn0file0
  4. Check whether the unit has been exposed to damp. The expected result is a dry compartment and a secure fit. If there is corrosion, moisture or swelling, stop using the product. fileciteturn0file1turn0file0

If the cover remains loose, the camera looks damaged or you are unsure whether it is still safe to use, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased. fileciteturn0file1turn0file0
