Why is my dummy camera weathered but still worth keeping?

Separate appearance from damage

1. Check whether the wear is only on the surface or whether the housing has cracked.
2. Clean the camera gently and compare the result before deciding that the finish is permanently damaged.
3. Look at the mount, cover and screws to confirm the unit is still firmly fixed.
4. Decide whether the weathering is acceptable for the location or whether the unit should be moved to a more sheltered position.
5. If the camera no longer looks convincing from a normal viewing distance, adjust the placement rather than forcing the housing.
