If the battery cover is cracked or missing, do not leave the dummy camera in use until the opening is protected and the unit is secure. The Smartwares 10.016.07 model uses AA batteries, so the cover is part of normal use and helps keep the compartment closed and tidy.
Check the damage before refitting
- Inspect the compartment opening for cracks, broken clips or bent plastic.
- Check whether the batteries can move freely because the cover no longer holds them in place.
- Remove the batteries if the compartment is open to rain, dust or loose debris.
- Only refit the unit if the cover still closes flush and stays shut.
- If the cover is missing entirely, do not mount the unit outdoors until you have confirmed it can be secured safely.
What you should see
The compartment should close evenly with no exposed edges. If the opening cannot be closed properly, the unit is no longer ready for normal use.
Stop using the product if
Stop using it if the cover is missing, cracked, warped or cannot stay closed, especially outdoors or in a damp room.
If the issue remains unresolved or safe use is uncertain, contact the retailer or store where the product was purchased.
