Why is my egg cooker hard to clean after use?

Modified on Mon, 24 Aug at 3:07 PM

If residue is building up after cooking, clean the appliance as soon as it has cooled. Egg cookers are usually easiest to maintain when the lid, tray and water container are cleaned promptly after each use.

Clean the removable parts carefully

  1. Unplug the appliance and wait until it is fully cool.
  2. Remove the tray and lid if they are designed to come off.
  3. Wash or wipe the removable parts only as the product instructions allow, then dry them completely.

If the parts clean up easily, regular washing after use should prevent the problem from returning.

Deal with stubborn residue

  1. Wipe the heating area with a soft damp cloth.
  2. Use a mild cleaning method only, and avoid scouring pads or steel wool.
  3. For limescale, use a suitable descaling product mixed with water, following the product guidance.

If residue remains stuck, do not scrape the surface with metal tools.

When to stop using it

  1. Stop using the appliance if the coating or heating plate looks damaged after cleaning.
  2. Stop using it if water has entered the electrical area.
  3. Stop using it if it no longer heats evenly after cleaning.

If the issue remains unresolved, contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
