Why does my egg cooker boil dry or switch off too early?

If your egg cooker stops early, sounds different or seems to run out of water too quickly, the cause is often an incorrect water amount or a setup issue. These products use water to control cooking time, and the boil-dry protection is there to prevent unsafe heating.

1. Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Expected result: the base is safe to inspect. If you smell burning or see heat damage, stop using it.
2. Check how much water you used and whether the measuring cup was filled correctly for soft, medium or hard eggs. Expected result: the amount matches the chosen result. Too little water can cause early shut-off.
3. Confirm the eggs were pierced at the blunt end if the model instructions or accessories support that step. Expected result: the eggs are prepared as intended. Skipping this may affect cooking consistency.
4. Look for limescale or residue in the water container. Expected result: the heating area is reasonably clean. Heavy deposits can affect boiling performance and timing.
5. Run one normal cycle with the correct water amount. Expected result: the buzzer sounds when the eggs are ready. If it still switches off too soon or you suspect a safety cut-out is being triggered repeatedly, stop using the egg cooker and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

Never keep restarting the appliance if it has boiled dry. Let it cool fully first, and do not use it again if the base is damaged or the behaviour remains inconsistent.
