Why is limescale building up in my egg cooker?

Limescale is common when an egg cooker is used regularly with hard water, and it can affect heating performance and visible cleanliness. It is usually a maintenance issue, but heavy deposits should be removed carefully and only when the appliance is cold and unplugged.

1. Unplug the appliance and let it cool fully. Expected result: the base is safe to clean. Never descale it while hot.
2. Inspect the water container and heating area for white or chalky residue. Expected result: deposits are visible if limescale is the cause.
3. Use a small amount of descaling product mixed with water in the water container only, then leave it for about 30 minutes without boiling the mixture. Expected result: the residue softens.
4. Empty the container, wipe it with a moist cloth and dry all parts thoroughly. Expected result: the heating area looks cleaner and dry.
5. Run one normal cycle with plain water. Expected result: the appliance heats and the residue does not return immediately. If the cooker still behaves unusually or the heating area looks damaged, stop using it and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.

Never use metal tools, scouring pads or aggressive cleaners, and never immerse the electrical base in water.
