If turning the thermostat appears to do nothing, the control may be set too low to show an immediate change, or the appliance may be failing to regulate heat correctly. The manuals describe an adjustable thermostat that should change the cooking temperature gradually, with the ready light cycling as the plate maintains heat.
- Turn the thermostat from low to high and wait several minutes. Observe whether the ready light changes and whether the plate temperature increases.
- Return the control to a middle setting and see whether the appliance reacts more gradually. A delayed change can still be normal.
- Make sure the appliance is not already cooled down, as temperature changes are easier to notice once it is actively heating.
- If the dial feels loose, spins without resistance or produces no change in heat, stop using the appliance and unplug it.
- Do not try to open the base, tighten the thermostat or repair wiring. Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased if the control does not respond reliably.
A thermostat that no longer controls heat safely is a reason to stop using the product, even if the appliance still switches on.
