If the ready light seems stuck on, the appliance may be warming up normally, but not yet reaching the set temperature, or the thermostat may be set too low for the batter and room conditions. On these models the ready light is meant to switch off once the plate is hot, and may cycle on and off during use to maintain temperature.
- Turn the thermostat to a higher setting and allow the appliance to preheat for several minutes. Observe whether the ready light eventually goes out. If it does, the appliance is heating and the earlier setting was probably too low.
- Check that the crêpe maker is on a level, stable surface and not near the edge of the worktop. If it is wobbling or exposed to draughts, reposition it and repeat the preheat test.
- Use the appliance without batter for a short period only, to see whether the ready light cycles normally. If it does, the thermostat is probably regulating heat as intended.
- If the ready light remains on continuously and the plate never feels warm, unplug the unit and stop using it. Do not continue to test a product that may not be heating correctly.
- If the appliance becomes excessively hot, emits an unusual smell or behaves unpredictably, stop using it at once and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
A ready light that behaves differently from the instructions can indicate a fault, but it can also follow from a low setting or an unstable setup. Do not open the appliance or attempt to adjust internal parts.
