Water leaking from the base is not normal and you should stop the appliance if liquid reaches the plug, cord or controls. A leak can be caused by overfilling, a badly seated tray, residue around the container edge or damage to the housing. Because this is a mains appliance, treat any leak near the electrical parts as a safety issue.
- Unplug the cooker immediately and wipe up any spilled water. Do not touch the plug or socket if they are wet.
- Check whether the water was poured above the intended level. If so, that is the most likely cause of the leak.
- Inspect the water container edge, tray and lid area for food residue, limescale or a part that is not seated correctly.
- Dry the appliance fully, then run a short test with the correct measured water amount. Watch closely for any drips from the base.
- If water leaks again, stop using the product. Do not continue testing if the leak reaches the mains lead, control area or underside of the base.
- Contact the retailer or store where it was purchased and explain that the appliance is leaking from the base.
Expected result: the cooker should stay dry apart from normal steam venting. Any repeat leak from the base means the appliance is unsafe to use.
