Heat marks or pale residue on the cooking area are usually caused by water minerals, not by a serious fault. The staining may look alarming, but it can often be reduced with careful cleaning once the appliance is fully cold.
- Unplug the appliance and wait until it is completely cool. Expected result: you can clean safely. If the surface is cracked, warped or smells burnt, stop using the cooker.
- Wipe the container with a damp cloth and check whether the marks are chalky or smooth. Expected result: chalky marks indicate limescale, while rough marks may mean surface damage.
- If the marks are limescale, use a small amount of descaling product added with water and leave it in the container for about 30 minutes. Expected result: the deposit softens and lifts more easily. Do not boil the mixture.
- Rinse, wipe and dry the parts fully. Expected result: the residue is reduced and the surface is clean before the next use.
- Run one cycle with plain water. Expected result: the stains do not spread or return immediately. If the coating or metal looks damaged, stop using the product and contact the retailer or store where it was purchased.
Do not scrape the surface with knives, pads or abrasive powder, and never immerse the appliance in water.
